Big dry starts to damage plantings

Waikato RiverCare has received calls and emails from concerned members of the public regarding some planting sites struggling to cope with the hot, dry conditions.

Waikato RiverCare is aware that some sites that were planted last year are finding the dry conditions difficult, however the organisation, like many businesses in the rural sector, is dependent on mother nature to provide regular seasonal rain.

It is hoped the plants will bounce back when rains do come, however some losses can be expected.

Waikato RiverCare will do its best to repair any damage to its planting projects from the latest dry spell.

In the meantime we are keeping fingers and toes crossed for some rain!
